Stage 1 of our engagement is closing this Sunday. Parks and greenspaces quickly took the lead as the most liked aspect of Morley and remained there in top spot throughout, (46% of people responding chose this as a priority). Leisure and Sports Facilities are in second place (35%) with Town Centre shopping, restaurants, and Morley’s Heritage assets tying for third place (30%).

As we move into stage 2, which will open next week, we’ll be asking for your views on the project ideas that the Morley Town Deal Board has developed as a result of the issues you identified in stage 1. So all your pins on the map have been examined, and your views on how future investment into the town should be spent have been taken into account.

We’ve now had over 1,000 contributions to the Morley Commonplace site which is fantastic as it is building a picture of what people most like about the area - parks & green spaces continue to top the list, followed by leisure & sports facilities and Morley’s heritage buildings.

Parks & green spaces is also where 42% of you would like to see investment, along with bringing derelict buildings back into use and improving local shops.

Over three quarters of contributors live in Morley, but we are also hearing from friends and family of local residents and from some who work in the town too.

Over the last few days, we've had a lot of pins added to the Morley Map. This is excellent because as the numbers of pins grow a picture begins to emerge of the areas of Morley that people want us to know about. The image below shows the emerging "clusters" of pins highlighting issues such as:

This information is invaluable in enabling the Town Deal Board to formulate plans which align with the aspirations of the people of Morley. But we need more people to respond. So please share this site with as many people as possible and ensure they get the chance to have their say

Since the launch of our Morley Commonplace site we have had over nine hundred visitors to the site, and it’s brilliant to see the number of pins beginning to grow on our heatmap.

Issues that you’ve identified to date on the map include accessibility and facilities at Morley Train Station, your fondness for Scatcherd Park, and the aspiration for more independent shops in the town centre.

You’ve also identified priorities for investment, including bringing empty buildings back into use, more investment into parks and green spaces, and improving local shops.

Overwhelmingly, what people most like about Morley are the parks and greenspaces.
